FOCUS is “Friends of Overseas Citizens and University Students”, a faith-based coalition of Portland community members, area churches and campus ministries serving Portland State University and area international students and professionals from all religions, worldviews and nations, extending unconditional friendship in the spirit of Jesus of Nazareth.
FOCUS has a wide variety of events and services for PSU international students and scholars. Some of these include:
- International Coffee House – Friday nights, Fall through Spring Term
- American Culture Class – Friday nights, prior to the coffee house
- Talk Time – learn idioms and vocabulary for a different topic each week, Friday nights prior to the coffee house
- Summer Picnics – Friday Nights, Summer Term
- ESL Classes to supplement PSU classes or for international spouses – Fall through Spring Term, during the week
- Conversation Partners
